R. Howard Bland papers
R. Howard Bland, upon receiving his law degree from Harvard in 1905, joined the Baltimore law firm of Poe, Claggett, and Bland, where he remained until 1916. He subsequently made his mark in the business world, serving variously as a director of the Chespeake and Potomac Telephone Co. and of the Consolidated Gas, Electric, Light, and Power Company and as president of the U.S. Fidelity and Guarantee Company. His papers contain correspondence relating to his years at Harvard as a law student; the Boston cultural scene; society in Villanova, Pennsylvania; and Bland's courtship with Mary Paul.
