Faculty Meetings records
Abstract
This collection consists of minutes of faculty meetings of all teaching personnel of the College Park campus. The years covered by the records saw the transition of the Maryland Agricultural College to the University of Maryland, and this topic receives some discussion in the minutes. The minutes primarily cover the day-to-day functioning of the university, however, and document a wide variety of subjects, such as the punishment of cadets for "disorderly conduct," effects of a diphtheria outbreak, impact of World War I, effects of an undue emphasis on athletics, establishment of campus publications, and the appointments/resignations of faculty.

Guide revised by Patricia A. McCracken, August 1989.
One series was identified in the Records of Faculty Meetings. Minutes for the years 1897 through 1918 have been recorded in two leather?bound volumes, which have been placed in an acid?free box. Minutes for the years 1919 through 1922 were bound with other related records. They have been removed from their binding, refoldered into an acid?free folder, and placed in an acid?free container. Lastly, the guide was written.
