Summary:After Gilmore's death, David Wallis Reeves (1838-1900), attempted to continue the band under Gilmore's name. While Reeves was, by all accounts, a fine musician, the competition from the newly formed Sousa Band proved to be too much for the ensemble, and it soon failed. Photograph copied from the original at Providence Public Library.
