Summary: | Patrick Gilmore died suddenly on September 24, 1892 in St. Louis. Just two days after his death, John Philip Sousa and his band gave their first concert in Plainfield, New Jersey. Their first piece was Gilmore's own The Voice of a Departed Soul. Item 20 in the collection is identical but not mounted, accompanying envelope with the following handwritten, "Last program of P.S.
