Summary: | Patrick Gilmore's five-day National Peace Jubilee opened on June 15, 1869, to celebrate the peace following the Civil War. Gilmore organized a combined band and orchestra of some 1000 instrumentalists and 10,000 vocalists. The concertmaster for the event was the great violinist Ole Bull.
