Summary: | Album contains 76 candid photographs of Denise Bacon's pilot class of Kodaly-trained students from the Dana School of Music visiting Kecskemet, Hungary, in April 1970. The pilot class is photographed meeting and singing with Hungarian students from the Zoltan Kodaly Primary School in Kecskemet in classrooms and in concerts. The American students visit the town of Kalocsa, where Hungarian children in traditional costumes sing and perform folk dances, and are photographed trying on traditional Hungarian dresses. A strip of fabric with a handwritten dedication in Hungarian is enclosed in the album. Also included is a greeting card with an image of Zoltan Kodaly on the cover and text printed inside that reads, "Singing enriches one's life, singers[,] even that of others' - Kodaly. In memory of the days in Kecskemet, 20-29 April 1970." |
