Summary: | The entrance to Hotel El Tovar, on the rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona, 1915. Caption reads: "The Rim of the Canyon is only half a hundred steps from the entrance to El Tovar. The north wall, seemingly so close that you can stretch out your arms and touch its painted cliffs, is in reality thirteen miles away. The irregular pile of stone just east of the entrance is the Hopi House, and all about and away to the south, stretch the vast reaches of the Coconino Forest, the largest in the United States."
