Summary: | Frederick Douglass was an African American abolitionist who died in 1895. Douglass was born a slave who eventually escaped at the age of about 20. He dedicated his life to anti-slavery activism and wrote three autobiographies. He also edited a black newspaper and gave countless speeches against slavery and racism.
