Summary:Gettysburg College, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, circa 1901-1906. Caption reads: Gettysburg College, chartered in 1832, was originally established as a gymnasium in connection with the Lutheran Theological Seminary, founded in 1825. From the cupola the gallant Gen. Buford directed the opening battle; the building was directly in the line of the Confederate Army, and after the first day's fight was used as a hospital. Postcard number: 2397.
