James Monroe quartered here before Washington's momentous crossing of the Delaware on Christmas night in 1776." Message reads: "Dear Harding - Happy New Year! I was struck down with jaundice the week after your party and just out of the hospital. Hope I will be in circulation by the end of the month. Would like to attend some of the S.A.H. meetings.
