Summary:Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers, Harper's Ferry, West Virginia, circa 1961-1980. Caption reads: "'Where three states meet.' One of the most picturesque and historic spots in this locality, where the Shenandoah River joins the Potomac. It was the scene in 1859 of John Brown's Raid, which did much to precipitate the Civil War; and the South won a big victory here in 1862, capturing over 11,000 Federal troops in the garrison.
