Summary:Edgar Allan Poe Shrine, Richmond, Virginia, circa 1931-1944. "Edgar Allan Poe Shrine - The oldest building in Richmond, Va., erected about 1685. Said to have been Washington's headquarters and that both he and Lafayette were entertained in the building. Its gardens, houses, many manuscripts, relics and much data are associated with the work of Poe, who was reared in this vicinity." Postcard number: 67016.
