Summary:Chesapeake Bay Bridge, Anne Arundel and Queen Annes counties, Maryland, circa 1981-1985. Caption reads: "Chesapeake Bay Bridge : Connecting Eastern and Western Shores of Maryland, the first bridge across the Bay was completed in 1952. The parallel span, opened in 1973, eliminated a traffic bottleneck by permitting one-way operation on each bridge. Over-water length - 5 miles, suspension span length - 2,922 feet, height of roadway - 200 feet." Message reads: "Mom & Dad - Thanks for letter, still get hay fever but not as bad. Go swimming at public pool nearby. Costs 75¢ per swim. Spend most of time writing. Working on 1940's today." Postmark date: June 8, 1985; Postcard number: 21410; Message included.
