Caption reads: "Chesapeake Bay Bridge : Connecting Eastern and Western Shores of Maryland, the first bridge across the Bay was completed in 1952. The parallel span, opened in 1973, eliminated a traffic bottleneck by permitting one-way operation on each bridge. Over-water length - 5 miles, suspension span length - 2,922 feet, height of roadway - 200 feet." Message reads: "Mom & Dad - Thanks for letter, still get hay fever but not as bad.
