Summary:Hungry for Hollywood illustrates how Towson University's Mass Communication program teaches techniques of filmmaking and highlights a recent graduate who landed a job working in Hollywood. Name, rank and G.P.A. examines how the University of Maryland University College's Asia Division provides higher education classes to American military personnel stationed in Korea. Softer software visits University of Maryland College Park researchers at the Human-Computer Interaction Lab who are working to develop ways of making computers easier to use, including working with young children. The sky's the limit examines the University of Maryland Eastern Shore's new major in aviation which covers all elements of the aviation industry and provides students with a four year aviation science degree. Seeing the forest and the trees visits Frostburg State University scientists, ecologists and ornithologists who are learning about the forces which shape old growth forests in efforts to save them from dangers such as the logging industry and foreign introduced insects. Rockfish resurgence visits University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science scientists who are looking for causes of past population declines of striped bass, or rockfish, in efforts to prevent declines in the future. Something for the pain illustrates how the University of Maryland at Baltimore is involved in the Regional Center for Persistent and Chronic Pain which is headquarted at the University of Maryland at Baltimore, School of Dentistry and teams University of Maryland with Johns Hopkins University in research into chronic pain management.
