Summary:Conference speech and reading by Katherine Anne Porter at Sala Ponce, Palacio de las Bellas Artes, Mexico City, Mexico, on June 6, 1960. The second of two tapes. Porter completes the reading of "A Defense of Circe" (pages 137-40 in Collected Essays) and concludes her peformance by reading or reciting the 17th century anonymous lyric, "In Praise of Life" (which begins, "As life what is so sweet").
