Summary:Picture of Mary Shorb, Professor in the Poultry Department at work, ca. 1941-1950. Shorb, along with her colleagues, discovered that vitamin B12 was more effective in treating pernicious anemia than the liver extract in use since 1926; prior to 1926, patients afflicted with the disease usually died.
