Summary:General Meade's headquarters, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, circa 1901-1906. Caption reads: George G. Meade was born in 1815. He graduated from West Point in 1835, and was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Army of the Potomac in 1863. During the battle of Gettysburg, his headquarters was a humble dwelling standing on the Taneytown Road and riddled by shot and shell. After his great victory Meade was made Brigadier-General, and in 1862, Major-General. He died in 1872. Postmark Date: October 15, 1906; Postcard number: 2397; Message Included.
