Looking toward the Wheatfield and the Peach Orchard the scene embraces the most sanguinary parts of the field of battle. Beyond is the Peach Orchard, where Union batteries fired shells without fuse at thirty paces. The immediate foreground is "The Valley of Death." I have been over this battlefield and it is a very interesting place. The statue on this card is of Gen. Warren."
