Caption reads: "The Battle of Antietam or Sharpsburg, in 1862, was the bloodiest battle of the War between the States, over 20,000 casualties being suffered by both sides. At Burnside Bridge, Gen. Burnside's corps made repeated attempts with greatly superior numbers to force the bridge, but was driven back. Antietam is now a national monument." Postcard number: P14365.
