Summary:Jackson Monument, Boulevard and Monument Avenues, Richond, Virginia, circa 1915-1930. Caption reads: "Jackson Monument, Boulevard and Monument Ave., Richmond, VA. Gen'l Thos. J. ('Stonewall') Jackson was born in Clarksville, W. Va. Jan. 21st, 1824 and died at Guinea Sta., Va., May 10th, 1863, from wounds received at the battle of Chancellorsville, when he was fired upon by Confederate Soldiers mistaking him and his escort for Federal troops. This handsome monument, presenting the noted Confederate chieftain in typical attitude, was designed by Sculptor F. W. Sievers, and unveiled Oct 11th, 1919; the address of the occasion being delivered by Col. R. E. Lee, a grandson of Gen'l Robert E. Lee." Postcard number: 817, 54994.
