In this famous building, which formerly stood on the corner of 20th & Cary Sts., thousands of Federal Officers were imprisoned during the war. On one occasion 19 successfully effected their escape by tunnelling under its walls. Was dismantled in 1893, re-erected in Chicago for exhibition purposes during the World's Fair and is now here."
