Caption reads: "Observatory and Old Fortifications, Patterson Park. Patterson Park, a pleasure ground of about two hundred acres in the eastern section of the city, overlooks the harbor and preserves within its grounds the original earth works thrown up by citizen volunteers in 1814, when the British threatened to attack the city. A magnificent observatory is a feature of the park." Message reads: "Received your card. Thanks for same. Tell your papa I would like my linen suit as soon as possible. Be good!, Don't get a beau!
