Title |
Artificial Peace concert flier, Walter Johnson High School, Bethesda, Maryland, January 9, 1982
|
Description |
Photocopy of a flier promoting a concert by the Washington, D.C. area hardcore punk band Artificial Peace. The concert occurred at the Walter Johnson High School Coffee House talent show in Bethesda, Maryland on January 9, 1982. The flier employs the artistic practice of détournement, incorporating unrelated images of actor Gene Hackman and D.C. area television personalities Mac McGarry and Count Gore de Vol (aka Dick Dyszel). Sharon Cheslow photocopied the original flier for the concert while conducting research in the 1980s for the book that she co-authored on the D.C. punk scene, "Banned In D.C."
