William Mason Locomotive, Baltimore and Ohio Transportation Museum (later the B & O Railroad Museum), Baltimore, Maryland, circa 1960-1980. Caption reads: "William Mason (original) 1856, Baltimore and Ohio Transportation Museum, Baltimore, Md. Built by William Mason of Taunton, Mass., who has often been called the 'Father of the American-type engine' because he introduced the revolutionary idea of turning out products of beauty as well as of utility. This locomotive has been featured in several movies, most recently 'The Great Locomotive Chase' and 'Raintree County'." Postcard number: ICS-103644-1.
