George L. Googe, former director of Southern Organizers, sitting with 4 other men chatting in 1946. Googe was born on July 25, 1900 and served as an officer in his local Southern Organizers union. American Federation of Labor (AFL) named him the southern representative in 1928. Googe recruited half a million new union members in his career. He died in 1961.
