Musician Gregg Allman plays a Hammond B-3 organ with the Nighthawks while seated onstage at the Bayou in Washington, D.C., March 1978. Allman, best known as a member of the Allman Brothers Band, joined the Nighthawks — a Washington, D.C. blues band who have maintained a devoted local audience since the early 1970s — for a six-month period in 1978. This photograph was taken by Don Hamerman, who was then a staff photographer for Unicorn Times, a monthly performing arts periodical in Washington, D.C.
