Summary: | After Gilmore's death, David Wallis Reeves (1838-1900), attempted to continue the band under Gilmore's name. While Reeves was, by all accounts, a fine musician, the competition from the newly formed Sousa Band proved to be too much for the ensemble, and it soon failed.
