Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "The spreading of the rice grain after stripping in order that it may dry. This is done, usually by the old women, using tarpaulins (now) or mats. This picture was made in the village of Inoka in the western part of Motobu peninsula, Okinawa. Duplicate from Flint; early fall."
