The July 1979 issue of Descenes, a tabloid fanzine that focused on the punk and underground music cultures in the Washington, D.C. area. Descenes editor Howard Wuelfing was an important early participant in the D.C. underground music scene, both as a musician (Slickee Boys, Nurses, Half Japanese) and as a fanzine creator (Descenes, Discords). This issue of Descenes includes an interview with the Washington, D.C. new wave band D.Ceats and an article on the D.C. punk band The Penetrators. It also includes contributions from notable figures like Jim Testa (Jersey Beat fanzine), Jad and David Fair (the band Half Japanese), Skip Groff (Limp Records, Yesterday & Today Records) and D.C. music journalist Mark Jenkins. The letters section also includes correspondence from notable figures like Andy Schwartz of New York Rocker magazine and David Thomas of the band Pere Ubu.
