Writer and director Claudia Weill poses for a portrait at a hotel room in Washington, D.C. Weill was in D.C. to promote her new film, "Girlfriends." In 2019, "Girlfriends" was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." The photograph was taken circa September 1978 by Don Hamerman, then a staff photographer for Unicorn Times, a monthly performing arts periodical in Washington, D.C. A different photograph by Hamerman from the session was used for an article on Weill in the October 1978 issue of Unicorn Times.
