Discords fanzine, June 1981
|
Description |
The June 1981 issue of Discords, a tabloid fanzine that focused on the punk and underground music cultures in the Washington, D.C. area and elsewhere. Discords editor Howard Wuelfing was an important early participant in the D.C. underground music scene, both as a musician (Slickee Boys, Nurses, Half Japanese) and as a fanzine creator (Descenes, Discords). This issue of Discords includes an interview with the Maryland punk band Half Japanese. It also includes writings from notable figures like Jim Testa (Jersey Beat fanzine), Calvin Johnson (K Records, Beat Happening), Tesco Vee (Meatmen, Touch and Go fanzine), Terry Katzman (colleague of Husker Du) and D.C. music journalist Mark Jenkins. The cover photograph features Jad Fair of Half Japanese and Jello Biafra of Dead Kennedys, taken when the two bands played together in Washington, D.C.
