Title |
Descenes fanzine, Issue 6, July 1980
|
Description |
The July 1980 issue of Descenes, a tabloid fanzine that focused on the punk and underground music cultures in the Washington, D.C. area. Descenes editor Howard Wuelfing was an important early participant in the D.C. underground music scene, both as a musician (Slickee Boys, Nurses, Half Japanese) and as a fanzine creator (Descenes, Discords). This issue of Descenes -- which was also its last -- includes an interview with the Washington, D.C. post-punk band Tiny Desk Unit (featuring Bob Boilen, future host of NPR's "All Songs Considered"). It also includes contributions from notable figures like Jim Testa (Jersey Beat fanzine) and D.C. music journalist Mark Jenkins.
