Title |
Rites Of Spring concert flier, 9:30 Club, Washington, D.C. - June 21, 1985
|
Description |
Photocopy of an advertising flier promoting a concert by the Washington, D.C. punk band, Rites Of Spring. The concert occurred on June 21, 1985 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. This concert marked the beginning of "Revolution Summer," a social movement in one part of the local punk scene that sought to change the direction of the subculture away from the violent, ritualized, sexist behavior that had become commonplace. Sharon Cheslow photocopied the original flier for the concert while conducting research for the book that she co-authored on the D.C. punk scene, "Banned In D.C."
