Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "Taro under irrigation on the dark magnesium clay (now known to be Grumusols) along the northeast coast of Oahu. The gentle slope leading down from the mountains is broken by dikes, with intervening segments leveled for flood irrigation."
