Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "Hilly uplands, partly Regosols from calcareous clays and partly Reddish Brown Lateritic soils from limestones, lying north of Rykom, as seen from guest house hill. The near road is largely on Regosols which have a few tilled patches and much grass. Quonset huts are a monitoring station."
