"Micki" Lee Jonnie of Root Boy Slim and the Sex Change Band with the Rootettes preparing in front of a mirror backstage at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C., March 7, 1978. Root Boy Slim and the Sex Change Band with the Rootettes were a blues-rock band known for their acerbic and absurdist songs and stylized performances that garnered a major local fanbase in the Washington, D.C. area from the late 1970s to the early 1980s. This photograph was taken by Don Hamerman, who was then a staff photographer for Unicorn Times, a monthly performing arts periodical in Washington, D.C.
