Though it is unclear why this photograph of Sims Reeves is included in this collection, it is possible that Reeves and Gilmore met in London during Gilmore's 1878 tour of Europe. Interestingly, Reeves's father was a Royal Artillery bandsman in Woolwich, London in the early nineteenth century.
