Album of black and white photographs depicting Japanese dancers; schoolchildren; street scenes such as shops, rickshaws, and cleaners; U.S. military demonstrations including parades, tanks, and musical bands; Railway Transportation Office (RTO) and railway tracks; sumo wrestlers; and government buildings such as Kyoto City Hall, the U.S. army headquarters in Ibaraki and an army service center chapel in Nara. Photographs include depictions of the Todaiji Temple in Nara, such as the Daibutsu, the bronze bell, a wooden statue of Binzuru, the Great Buddha Hall, and guardian statues. Other shrines depicted include the Kasuga Taisha, the Heian shrine, the Kashihara Jingu shrine, the Toshodaiji Temple, the Five Story Pagoda at the Kofukuji Temple, the Gionkaku tower at the Daiun-in Temple, and the Sangedatsumon Gate at the Zojo-ji Temple. Photographs also depict scenes from Seoul, Korea, such as the Japanese General Government Building, the Hwangudan Altar, the Deoksugung Palace, Seokjojeon Hall, Independence Gate (Dongnimmun). Other scenes include houses; streets; Korean soldiers marching; mountainsides; a palanquin procession; ox carts; people washing laundry by a stream; crowds and shops.
