The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America submitted a proposition (that the Eight Hour Convention resolved) to restrict the workday to eight hours beginning on May 1, 1894. The booklet titled, "Minutes and Proceedings of the First Carpenters' Eight Hour Convention", was held at Trade Union Hall in Cincinnati, Ohio on George Washington's birthday, February 22, 1894. The booklet published information relating to the morning, afternoon, and evening sessions of the Convention with details on committee appointments, Local Union delegates, election of officers, and other miscellaneous efforts put forth by the Convention.
