|
Description |
Spangler's Spring, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, circa 1907-1914. Caption reads: "Originally a rudely walled spring, its appearance has been changed by the National Park Commission in an effort to insure the purity of the water which is largely used by tourists. Located at the foot of Culp's Hill, it was within the scope of the terrible struggle there the evening of July 2d. At the close of fighting that night, soldiers of both armies mingled freely here, securing water."
