Millard Tawes Fine Arts Center of the University of Maryland, fondly known as the 'Tawes Mahal', was built in 1965 at a cost of $2.5 million. Housing the University's Art, Music, Speech and Drama departments, the Center also features a fine auditorium, where dramatic and musical presentations play to capacity audiences, and a carpeted in-the-round art gallery that attracts many art-lovers."
