The old Slater Mill in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, circa 1940-1953. Built in 1793, the old Slater Mill was the first cotton mill in America. Postmark date: September 7, 1953; Postcard number: 5003; Message included. Message reads: "Dear Alice, Thanks again for everything. We arrived home at 7:30 p.m. Had a short rain storm in Canterbury about 10 minutes then sun came out and it was beautiful. Everett's brother who is in the hospital took a turn for the worse. Tuesday he is very low. We are going to see him today. They were glad we got home. Lots of love. Margaret and Everett. XX"
