Appomattox Court House National Historical Park, Clover Hill Tavern, Appomattox, Virginia, circa 1981-2000. Caption reads: "The brick tavern, built in 1819, served travelers on the Richmond-Lynchburg Stage Road. Here, 28,231 paroles were printed for issue to each Confederate soldier. The tavern kitchen prepared the meals served to guests at the tavern. The tavern guesthouse was used when the tavern was full." Postcard number: AC 005.
