Major Sutherlin's Residence, "The Last Capitol of the Confederacy" in Danville, Virginia, circa 1901-1906. Caption reads: "Major Sutherlin's Residence. Danville, after the fall of Richmond, was the last capitol of the Confederacy. Jefferson Davis and his cabinet were domiciled there at the home of Major W. T. Sutherlin from April 3rd until April 10th, 1865. The executive offices were in an old academy building on Wilson street." Postmark: October 3, 1906.
