Caption reads: "Between sailings, and from Hollywood, California, Charles Leavitt, member of PAC and the National Maritime Union, gets ballots for peace for the Chelsea Council for Citizens Action in New York City. He said seamen have an interest too, as seamen, because they'll get their share of the 20,000,000 jobs if trade relations between nations are healthy. Signing the ballot for the San Francisco Peace Conference is Mrs. J. Lenahan of 401 West 30th Street. Her husband has been in the South Pacific for twenty months. He has never seen his son. She said: "It's for him that I want this peace. I don't want this baby to grow up and have to face another world of war. I think most mothers feel just the way I do. That's why I'm voting for San Francisco." Thousands of such ballots were collected in the city."" Second caption reads: "For San Francisco Peace Conference - Members of Local IUOPWA & Dept Store Employees have balloting table in front of Chelsea A&P store, 22nd & 8th Ave. Chelsea mothers are voting for peace via San Francisco conf. Marsha Snyde of UOPWA is seated at table taking ballots. She is keeping her son Donald out for his daily outdoor exercise (next to her) at the same time.
