Children and cannon in Fort Frederick, Washington County, Maryland, circa 1941-1960. Caption reads: "This cannon is pointed through a breach in the south wall of the fort. During the Civil War the wall was breached and cannon set up, frowning upon the Potomac River. Skirted as it was by the B. & O. Railroad, the thoroughfare on the Virginia shore (later West Virginia) and the C. & O. Canal." Postcard number: S-64174.
