Veiled woman holding an infant posing next to a horse cab with Sarah Brooke Farquhar and guide sitting inside. Materials from the "Photographs, 1864-1953" series from the Brooke Family papers. Description on reverse reads: "'Luxor. 2 horse cab which the guide hired to ride us around the nearby countryside. We had stopped here to visit a pottery "factory." The veiled woman planted herself here, and stood motionless. Who knows why -- I hadn't asked her to and she said nothing to us. But I'm glad she was in it!' From correspondence collections; folder #41 (item no 2) 1953 Trip by R. B. Farquhar." This photograph was originally part of the "Correspondence, 1815-1954" series from the Brooke Family papers, Box 5, Folder 9, titled "To Mary F.
