Burnside Bridge, Antietam Battlefield, Sharpsburg, Maryland, circa 1930-1944. Caption reads: "The Battle of Antietam (by the Confederates called the Battle of Sharpsburg) was the bloodiest battle of the Civil War. Burnside Bridge, named for the commander of the Union forces, was the scene of some of the toughest fighting. It is in perfect condition today and is one of the interesting spots on the Antietam Battlefield, now a U.S. Park, located a few miles south of Boonsboro, 13 miles east of Hagerstown, near U.S. 40."
