This is a photo of A. Philip Randolph standing in front of the Lincoln Memorial during the 1963 March on Washington. The March on Washington was part of the Civil Rights Movement. Hundreds of thousands of Americans gathered in Washington, DC to demonstrate the political and social challenges that African Americans face. Martin Luther King Jr. gave the infamous "I Have a Dream" speech during the March. Randolph was a key player in the Civil Rights Movement, American Labor Movement, and socialist political parties.
