Monument Avenue and Lee Monument, Richmond, Virginia, circa 1930-1944. Caption reads: "Lee Monument- Designed by Mercier, this splendid equestrian statue of Gen. Robert E. Lee is located on Monument Avenue and is a tribute to the 'Idol of the South'. Unveiled May 30th 1890, by Gen.' Joseph E.
