Monument Avenue and Lee Monument, Richmond, Virginia, circa 1930-1944. Caption reads: "Lee Monument- Designed by Mercier, this splendid equestrian statue of Gen. Robert E. Lee is located on Monument Avenue and is a tribute to the 'Idol of the South'. Unveiled May 30th 1890, by Gen.' Joseph E. Johnson, and was the occasion of the greatest reunion of Confederate veterans ever held." Postcard number: 22, 67019.
